Coconut oil is one of my favorite beauty and health ingredients to use, I not only use it in my home-made beauty recipes and in my beauty routine but I am also very regularly add it to my diet. Coconut oil is an MCT oil and it is the healthiest oil you can ever consume because it does not cause internal inflammation. It also has anti microbial and anti inflammatory properties that helps keep your skin clear and scalp healthy. It is also a great moisturizing ingredient that keeps your skin soft and your hair shiny. You get coconut oil very easily commercially but did you know that you can make your own organic 100% natural coconut oil at home? Yes you heard me right, here is a coconut oil recipe –
RECIPE FOR COCONUT OIL
Things you need-
- 3 to 4 fresh coconuts
- Little Water
Directions-
To make coconut oil, you first need to make coconut milk. Get hold of fresh coconuts and remove the meat. You only need the meat and some water to make coconut milk. Add coconut meat roughly diced along with very little water and blend it until it forms a thick paste. Using a nut milk cloth or a muslin cloth, squeeze out all the coconut milk very nicely. Now, your coconut milk is ready. Pour coconut milk in a wide bottomed vessel And let it sit still in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 hours. You will notice a thick white layer floating on top of the coconut milk. This Is what you require to make coconut oil. Remove the hardened top layer and added to a saucepan and place it on low flame. Let it completely melt and the residue if any will settle to the bottom. Strain and your coconut oil is ready. Store it in an airtight container and use it as and when required.
MY FAVORITE WAYS TO USE COCONUT OIL
- I love using this wonder ingredient as a pre-shampoo hot oil treatment. Simply warm coconut oil and massage it on your hair and scalp thoroughly. Where a shower cap and shampoo off after 1 to 2 hours.
- I use coconut oil in all my dishes that I make and I also add it into salads and to my bullet-proof coffee.
- It also makes a great pre-shower body oil and also as a body massaging oil.
- Use it to massage your facial skin and neck to improve blood circulation. Make sure to wash it off because you do not want to leave it on in case you have acne prone skin.
- Use it directly on your lips to hydrate and moisturize and to treat chapped lips.
NOTE:
- If you have sensitive skin that gets clogged easily, do not use coconut oil as a leave-on treatment. Make sure you wash it off after using.
