Rosewater is a great multipurpose ingredient and I absolutely love using it in my beauty regime. Rose water can be used directly for your skin and hair and can also be used in a lot of home-made beauty recipes. Rosewater is very easily and readily available in the market but did you know that most of them contain a lot of unwanted ingredients and fragrance? You can make your own rosewater at home using fresh organic roses! I have shared two simple methods to make your own home-made rose water that is hundred percent pure and natural –

HOMEMADE ROSE WATER- Organic and Natural

RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE ROSE WATER

METHOD 1: Direct Heating

Things you need-

You need 3 to 4 organic roses, 2 to 3 cups of filtered or distilled water, one saucepan and a strainer.

Directions-

Add rose petals in a bowl and wash it under running tap water. Toss them in the saucepan and add in water. Keep it on medium heat and cover it with a lid. Let it simmer for 10 minutes and you will see that the water has acquired a beautiful rosy red shade. Turn off the flame and let the rose water cool down. Strain and your easy rosewater Is here. You can also call it rose tea.

METHOD 2: Distilled Rose Water

Things you need-

To make distilled version, you need 3 to 4 fresh organic roses, 2 to 3 cups of filtered or distilled water. Also few ice cubes, one wide mouth and saucepan, a lid and a small vessel.

Directions-

Add rose petals in a bowl and wash it. Place a vessel in the saucepan and place it on medium heat. Add the rose petals and water in the saucepan and not in the vessel that is placed in the center. Put a lid upside down and add ice cubes on the lid from top. As the steam generates, it condenses on the lid from inside and falls in the vessell that is placed in the center. This is nothing but collecting rosewater distillate. Let this process go on for 30 minutes and turn off the flame. Remove the vessel from the saucepan and transfer the prepared rose water in an easy to use spray bottle or jar. Use it as and when required.

MY FAVORITE WAYS TO USE ROSE WATER:

  • I love using it directly as a facial mist or as a toner throughout the day.
  • When chilled to ice cubes it can help with de-puffing your face and under eyes and it also adds a beautiful glow.

  • I love using rose water in all my home-made hair care and skin care recipes and it is a great substitute to just plain filtered water.
  • Can also be used in your shakes and smoothies and a perfect way to use it is in lemonade instead of plain water.
  • Mist rosewater on your hair and scalp after a hair wash to see you in moisture, fight dandruff and add a beautiful shine.
  • You can also freeze rose water to ice cubes and use it after a hair wash on your hair length and scalp to seal in moisture, reduce frizz and also to boost scalp circulation.
