It’s natural to want to expect zero hair loss and improve your hair if it’s not up to your satisfaction. There are ‘n’ number of home remedies out there that would help boost your hair growth or that would just help you in improving the hair volume. It’s always important to choose between them and the one that suits your hair type and of course if that works for you without causing any side-effects. With that said let’s get started. Top 10 zero hair loss remedies

Castor oil

Castor oil is one of the age-old remedy that is been known to promote hair growth. It helps in promoting the hair growth as it is rich in omega-9 fatty acids and is a rich source of vitamin E. In addition, it also helps in moisturizing your hair, adds volume, adds shine, prevents dry and frizz hair and also fights scalp infections.

How to use?

Take a small cup and add equal quantities of castor oil and coconut oil to get the better consistency. This mixture should be adjusted as per your hair length. Rub the mixture on the scalp and give a very good massage. Leave it on for 1 hour and then wash it off with mild shampoo. If you feel difficulty in rinsing your hair can use shikakai paste to take off the oiliness.

Amla – the Indian gooseberry 

Amla is a great treasure trove for centuries and is been used in grandma’s beauty rituals. It is rich in nutrients like vitamin C and tannins. It also possesses nourishing properties and is great in preventing premature graying.  

How to use?

You can use dried amla pieces in this remedy and there are 2 ways in using them. Boil the dried amla pieces (10 pieces approximately) in 1 cup of water. Boil this mixture for 15mins on a medium flame and then strain it. Transfer the mixture into the spray bottle and use it. Leave it on the scalp for 2 to 4 hours. Wash it off with the mild shampoo. Another way you can use is by boiling the dried amla pieces in a cup of coconut oil on a low flame. Strain it and use it. 

Note that – the quantity of water or oil that matters is as per the hair length and your requirement. If you do not have dried amla pieces mixing amla oil with base oils like coconut oil or jojoba oil should be fine.

Fenugreek/methi seeds

Fenugreeks are a great source of protein which is very important for promoting hair growth. It contains lecithin that helps in strengthening the hair follicles and moisturizing the scalp.

How to use?

Soak 3 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in the water overnight. In the next morning just blend it to smooth paste. Apply it on your scalp and keep them for 1 hour and then wash it off with plain water. The next day oil your hair and get your hair bath done. If you feel lazy or get annoyed with applying paste, just boil some fenugreek seeds in the cup of coconut oil and oil your hair. However, applying the paste works wonders incase of promoting hair growth.

Eggs

Eggs are rich source of protein which serves as nutrition for boosting the hair growth. It helps to add shine, improves hair texture and reduces hair fall.

How to use?

Whisk 2 egg yolks nicely. Now add in 2 teaspoons of olive oil to it. Give them a very good mix and gently apply all over hair and scalp. Wash it off after 30 minutes with mild shampoo. If you don’t have an olive oil, applying 2 egg whites and massaging the scalp with it should be fine.

Coconut milk

Coconut milk contains numerous amounts of nutrients like calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, selenium and other nutrients. It also contains vitamins like vitamin B, C and as well as E which are all a boon for promoting hair growth. 

How to use?

Grind ¼ cup of black sesame seeds with coconut milk to get the paste like consistency and apply it to your hair and scalp. Note that coconut milk should be squeezed from grinding the pieces of coconut and should be adjusted as per the requirement.

Rice

Rice has many benefits that include – helps remove dandruff, detangles your hair, stimulate hair growth, strengthens the hair follicles, gives vitality and improves their appearance.

How to use?

Cook 2 to 3 tablespoon of rice to smooth. Once it comes down to room temperature, blend the rice to smooth paste with aloe vera juice as per the consistency you need. Apply this paste all over your hair and scalp. Wash it after 2 hours with mild shampoo. Do this twice a month to get better results.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus is rich in nutrients such as amino acids which are very necessary in producing the keratin. They stimulate hair re-growth and are capable of transforming from dormant follicles and even bald patches to thick and dense follicles when used regularly. We can easily count on the hibiscus for silky smooth hair and their leaves are also very beneficial. They are rich in invigorating ingredients that is flavonoids and amino acids that is very helpful in obtaining healthy strong hair.

How to use?

Blend a handful of hibiscus flowers and hibiscus leaves to smooth. Adjust the consistency as you need with water. Apply this paste all over your scalp and hair. Leave it on for 2 to 3 hours and then wash it off with plain water.

Banana

Banana is rich in potassium and other vitamins and oils. It helps in moisturizing the scalp and prevents the hair from sun damage.  It also helps in preventing the split-ends and avoids dry and frizz hair thus strengthening the hair against all kind of damages.

How to use?

Take a blender and cut some pieces of banana into it. Blend them to smooth and mix 2 teaspoon of olive oil. Give them a good mix and apply it all over your hair and scalp. Wash it off after 2 hours with a mild shampoo.

Avocado

Avocados are chock full of vitamin D, A, E and are rich in amino acids, proteins, magnesium, folic acid, iron and copper due to which it provides extensive moisture to hair and thus nourishing it. The monosaturated fatty acids, phytosterols and high levels of antioxidants like vitamin E are absorbed into hair scalps and shafts that deeply nourish hair follicles and prevents from the dull, dry and damaged hair.

How to use?

Take a blender and scoop ½ cup of avocado pulp, 3 tablespoon of soaked fenugreek seeds and high fat coconut milk as per the consistency required. Blend them all smooth and apply all over your hair and scalp. Leave it on for 2 to 3 hours and then follow up with the mild shampoo.

Lemon

Lemon is rich in vitamin C and possesses beneficial plant compounds. As it is rich in vitamin C it in turn can promote collagen production. The acidic nature of the lemon unclogs hair follicles and stimulates dormant. All these properties can be helpful in preventing the hair loss. Lemon also contains many nutrients and in turn that helps in strengthening the hair follicles and gives a way to new hair by encouraging the hair growth. It deeply cleanses scalp, restores pH levels and removes dirt and impurities. 

How to use?

Squeeze in some half lemon juice and mix it with 1 small cup of coconut oil and 3 tablespoon of olive oil. Give them a very good mix and apply all over your hair and scalp. Wash it off after 1 hour with mild shampoo. Make sure not to use lemon in excess as it can lighten your hair in long run.

Note

  • Patch test is mandatory before use and check if it works or not for you.
  • Do not expect instant results as hair growth takes a lot of time and it varies from person to person.
  • Use organic products wherever necessary.
  • Adjust the quantities as per the ratio mentioned in each of the recipes and as per the hair length requirements.
  • Do not over use any ‘zero hair loss’ remedies mentioned. Since we know ‘Too much is too bad’.
