People these days are constantly in a lookout for sulfate-free shampoos and natural shampoos. I personally really love sulfate-free shampoos. Also, I am okay with shampoos that are completely natural and home-made. I have been without a shampoo for almost 8 years and I have only used natural ingredients then. Using natural ingredients for hair cleansing can not only help detox the scalp but also boost growth and improve the texture of your hair. Here is my favorite powder hair wash recipe that is hundred percent natural and cleans your scalp and hair thoroughly –

Shikakai is a popular hair conditioner and cleanser and is used in India as a hair shampoo since ages. It has deep conditioning and nourishing properties that boost hair growth and makes your hair super thick and shiny. It also has gentle cleansing properties that helps clarify your scalp and hair and unclog hair follicles. Adds a beautiful shine and softness to the hair.

METHOD:

Things you need-

  • 1/3 cup Soapnut Powder
  • 1/2 cup Shikakai Powder
  • 1/3 cup Green Gram Powder
  • 3-4 tablespoons Neem Powder
  • 1/3 cup Aamla Powder

Directions-

To make this hair wash powder, take a bowl and add in soap nut powder and shikakai powder. Add in green gram powder followed by neem powder and amla powder. Mix really well and pass it through fine machine to filter any lumps. Make sure that the powder is super fine or else you will end up with a mess that would be tough to wash off. To use, make a paste with this powder and some rose water or aloe vera gel and use it to massage your scalp and hair. Rinse it off with plain water and condition as you normally would. This hair wash powder can be used as a regular shampoo. You can make a bigger batch and store it in an airtight container or a ziploc bag.

NOTE-

  • Please note that the shampoo does not need to foam in order to cleanse. This hair wash powder can clean your scalp and hair without foaming. It is a myth that a shampoo requires forming in order to cleanse.
  • For added benefits, you can also add in an egg or 2 to make a very moisturizing hair wash.
  • Use organic ingredients for best results.
