RECIPE FOR FERMENTED RICE WATER FOR HAIR:

Things you need-

  • ½ cup washed and cleaned organic rice (white or brown; unpolished works the best!)
  • 2 cups room temperature water
  • Few drops essential oil

Directions-

In a bowl, add washed and cleaned organic rice and pour in water. Mix and place a lid on it. Keep it on the countertop at room temperature for 24 hours. If its winter, place it wherever you feel is a little warm or you might have to infuse it for longer. After 24 hours, the water should smell pungent. Strain out the fermented rice water and add in few drops lavender oil or rosemary oil. You can also add in few drops rose oil or citrus oil to mask the smell; this is an optional step though. Mix and transfer to a spray bottle and spray liberally on the scalp and hair. Soak the hair in rice water for 5 mins for better results. Tie a bun and let it sit for 4 hours minimum. Use a shampoo as usual and do not forget using a moisturizing conditioner.

Note:

  • If you are pregnant, lactating or suffer from any health condition, consult your doctor before incorporating essential oils in your beauty routine.
  • Patch test beforehand.
