Soaps can often dry out your skin and it is important to use soaps that suit your skin type depending on the weather and environmental conditions. If you already have dry skin, using a soap might strip off the natural oils and make your skin even dryer. If your skin is oily to combination and acne prone, choose the ingredients in your soap wisely. Did you know that you can make your own soap with just a few ingredients? Turmeric Soap

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It also even out skin tone and has healing effects. To make turmeric soap, combine together 500 g of goat milk soap or any natural soap base and few tablespoons of jojoba or coconut oil. You can use any carrier oil you like and microwave it until the soap base and oil is completely melted and mixed. Now, add in a tablespoon of wild turmeric powder and few drops of turmeric oil. Mix it really well and pour it into soap moulds. Let it sit over night and remove the soap from moulds. Use it as a regular soap for face and body.

Aloe Soap

Aloe vera is a natural humectant and it has skin hydrating and calming properties. It also helps fight acne and dry patches. To make aloe vera soap, you need to combine together 500 g of soap base and few tablespoons of commercial aloe vera gel. Make sure that the aloe vera gel that you are using is organic and free of dyes. Microwave until fully combined and add in few drops of your favourite essential oil. Stir and pour it into soap moulds and let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

Green Tea Soap

Green tea has skin purifying properties and works well for oily to combination skin type. It also helps detox and clarify. To make green tea soap, you can use matcha powder or green tea leaves. Melt together 500 g of goat milk soap or any other soap base that you like and add in few tablespoons of any carrier oil that you like. Add in Matcha powder or green tea leaves and microwave until combined and homogeneous. Add in few drops of your favourite essential oil and pour this into soft moulds. Let it sit overnight and then unmould. Use this as a regular face and body soap.

Honey Soap

Honey is a natural humectant and it also helps even out skin tone, reduce pigmentation and suntan. It also makes your skin super soft and touchable. To make honey soap, melt together 500 g of your favourite soap base along with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil or olive oil. After microwaving these ingredients, add in 3 tablespoons honey and mix it really well. Pour it into soap moulds and let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

Shea Soap

Shea butter has amazing skin moisturising and softening properties and it is non-comedogenic. To make Shea butter soap, add 3 tablespoons of Shea butter to 500 g of any soap base that you like and melt it in the microwave. Add in few tablespoons of rose hip oil or jojoba oil and mix it really well. Pour it into soap moulds and let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

Coffee Soap

Coffee contains caffeine that works as an instant wake up for the body and it also beautifies skin and helps boost circulation. To make coffee soap, you can add 2 to 3 tablespoons of instant coffee powder to 500 g of any soap base that you like along with 2 to 3 tablespoons of any carrier oil that you like. Microwave until fully melted and add in few drops of coffee oil (optional). Pour it into soap moulds and let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

Rose Soap

Rose soap is great for all skin types and not only does it make you smell great but it also has great skin benefits. Adds a beautiful glow and makes your skin super soft and fragrant. To make rose soap, you can add 2 tablespoons of rose petal powder to 500 g of goat milk soap base and melt it in the microwave. Add in 2 to 3 tablespoons of avocado oil or jojoba oil and stir. Add in few drops of rose essential oil and stir again. Pour it into soap moulds and let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

Vanilla Soap

Vanilla is a good source of antioxidants and it helps reverse skin damage and slow down signs of ageing. Not only is it beneficial for your skin but it also makes you smell great And help fight body odour. To make vanilla soap, you might want to add a tablespoon or so of fresh vanilla extract into 500 g of milk soap base and a tablespoon or so of olive oil or coconut oil. Melt it in the microwave and pour it into soap mould. Let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

Lemon/Citrus Soap

Lemon has antimicrobial and antifungal properties and is also high in antioxidants. It helps purify skin and also even out skin tone. To make lemon soap or citrus soap, melt together 500 g of soap base along with 3 to 4 tablespoons of olive oil. And to this, add 2 tablespoons of lemon oil and stir. Pour it into soap moulds and let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

Tea Tree Soap

Tea tree has amazing antimicrobial properties and is great for problematic skin. It helps fight acne and a lot of mild skin infections including fungal infections as well. Beautifies and detox and keeps your skin clean and clear. If you have a body acne, this is a great ingredient. To make tea tree soap, melt 500 g of soap base along with 3 to 4 tablespoons of jojoba oil. To this, add 10 to 15 drops of tea tree essential oil and stir. Pour it into soap moulds and let it sit overnight. Unmould the soaps and use it as a regular face and body soap.

  • You might want to change the quantities of the ingredients in these homemade soap recipes or add in some beeswax to harden the soap, depending on the weather condition and temperature.
