With monsoon comes allergies and what not. Most of the allergies are caused due to mold and mildew growth in our homes that can cause sneezing, coughing and a lot of other allergic reactions. Mold and mildew is nothing but a form of fungus that grows on humid walls and surfaces. Molds appear in different shades like green, blue, black etc. while mildew is white in color. To stay healthy and avoid allergic reactions, it is really important to keep mold and mildew under control and prevent it from reappearing. One fool proof way to get rid of mould and mildew is to stop the leakage and use a De- humidifier. Another way is to use this mold and mildew spray that has anti-fungal activities that inhibit the mold and mildew growth. Below is how you can make a DIY mold and mildew spray –

RECIPE FOR DIY MOLD AND MILDEW SPRAY:

BENEFITS OF DIY MOLD AND MILDEW SPRAY-

  • Baking Soda and white or apple cider vinegar when used together reacts with the mould and mildew and instantly inhibits them. Also has a gentle exfoliating effect that helps lift the molten metal to growth from the walls.
  • Tea tree oil has great antifungal properties and this particular ingredient has been researched to effectively kill fungus. Has antimicrobial and antifungal properties that helps purify the surface and prevent it from growing again.   
  • Lavender essential oil works just as tea tree essential oil but it also has great fragrant properties that helps mask the mould and mildew order and makes your room smell good.

METHOD-

Things you need-

  • 3 tablespoons baking soda
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 10 drops tea tree oil
  • 7-8 drops lavender oil

Directions-

To make this mould and mildew spray, take a spray bottle and add in 1/4 cup of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of baking soda. You will see effervescence which shall stop in a few minutes. Now, add in tea tree essential oil and lemon essential oil and secure the bottle. Mix it really well and spray it on the mould and mildew. Using a scrubber, scrub off the mould and mildew. Use this spray once daily on the affected areas to prevent mould and mildew from reappearing.
