DIY ALOE VERA OIL- Recipe, Benefits & Uses

RECIPE FOR ALOE VERA OIL

Things you need-

  • 2 cups fresh aloe gel
  • 2 cups almond or olive oil

Directions-

To make aloe vera oil, you first need fresh aloe vera leaves to extract its gel. Cut open the leaves and scrape of the gel. Infuse these gel chunks in water for five minutes to make sure that there is no latex in it. Now, place a sauce pan on a medium flame and pour in 2 cups of almond or olive oil. If you are planning to use this for hair itself, you can also use coconut oil. Now, toss in the aloe vera gel and let it cook for a very long time, until you see a dark residue floating on top of the oil (or settled at the bottom). This can take an hour or so. Now, let the oil completely cool down and strain the oil making sure that you squeeze out all the extract. Store this in an airtight container and use it as and when required for skin and hair.

BENEFITS AND WAYS TO USE ALOE VERA OIL FOR BEAUTY

Hair Growth

Aloe vera oil not only moisturizes your scalp and hair but it also has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It keeps dandruff away and strengthens your hair follicles. Stronger hair follicles and nourishment boost hair growth and makes your hair thicker and longer gradually. All you can do is apply warm aloe vera oil to your hair and scalp and massage it for a few minutes before you shampoo it off. You can also keep it overnight if you like. For added benefits, you can also add in few drops of your favorite essential oil like rosemary or lavender.

Acne

If you have acne prone skin, aloe vera oil can be your best buddy! It has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and it also soothes your skin and eliminates any irritation or redness. You can use few drops of aloe vera oil as a spot treatment for your acne or you can mix it with your night cream or moisturizer.

Soft Lips

Aloe vera oil moisturizes and soften lips and is great if you have dry and chapped lips. All you can do is use this directly as a lip oil or you can also make your own lip balm or lip butter. Simply add few drops to shea butter and whip it up and use it as a lip butter.

Soft Skin

If you have dry and patchy skin, or if your skin is feeling stretchy and dry because of dry weather, you can use this oil to moisturize and soften skin. Simply use it as a facial oil if it suits you or add a few drops to your regular moisturizer. Alternatively, you can also add a few drops to your home-made face mask recipes.

Hair Fall

If your hair follicles are weaker, you might be experiencing hair fall. To strengthen your hair follicles and reduce hair fall, you can add a few drops of rosemary and peppermint essential oil to warm aloe vera oil and use it as a hot oil treatment two hours before a hair wash.

Split Ends

Split ends cannot really be reversed but you can definitely take measures to prevent it from splitting further or from entirely preventing future split ends. You can use aloe vera oil directly as a hair oil 2 to 3 hours before using a shampoo or you can make your own hair mask. To make a hair mask, blend together half cup of avocado pulp and 1/3 cup of aloe vera oil. Use it as a hair mask and use the shampoo after 2 to 3 hours.

Dull Hair

If your hair is rough and dull and lacks shine, you can mix together equal quantities of banana and aloe vera oil. The mixture could be runny so if you don’t want a mess, you can add more banana. Apply this on your scalp and hair and let it sit for 2 to 3 hours before you use a shampoo.

Skin Glow

If your skin looks dull and lacks glow, you can use aloe vera oil to massage. Not only will it help boost circulation and add a glow but it will also unclog your pores and nourish your skin for that natural glow. Simply warm some aloe vera oil and use it to massage your face and neck for 5 to 10 minutes. Wash it off and moisturize.

Unclog Pores

If you have acne prone skin that gets clogged easily, you can make your own serum using aloe vera gel and aloe vera oil. Simply add a teaspoon of aloe vera oil to 3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel. You have to use commercial aloe vera gel and this recipe because it contains emulsifiers. Mix it well until it is well emulsified and transfer it in an easy to use pump bottle. Use it as a facial serum as you normally would.
