We all know how important exfoliating is which is why we use face and body scrubs. It is really important to indulge in a good exfoliating session at least twice a week to buff away dead skin layer and keep your skin looking healthy and glowing. You may find a lot of scrubs in the market but they often consist of unwanted synthetic ingredients that aren’t fully skin friendly. Sugar scrubs are the simplest scrubs to make and you can also customize it the way you want. Below are my favorite sugar scrub recipes you might want to try –

Brown Honey Scrub

To make the scrub, you need to grind brown sugar until it is fine and add in enough raw organic honey to make a spreadable paste. You can add in few drops of your favorite essential oil, this step is optional though. Store it in an airtight container and use it as a face and body scrub. If you are going to use it on your face, make sure that the sugar is not harsh and extremely fine.

Rice Sugar Scrub

To make rice sugar scrub, you need equal quantities of fine sugar and rice flour. Mix them together and add in enough sweet almond oil to make a spreadable paste. Store this in an airtight container and use it on your face and body as and when required. To use, simply massage on your skin for a few minutes and rinse it off. Follow up with your shower gel or face wash.

Oats Sugar Scrub

To make this anti-inflammatory and soothing oats sugar scrub, you need equal quantities of fine sugar and oats flour. If you do not have oats flour, you can simply grind rolled oats until it is fine. Mix these two ingredients and add in enough sweet almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil until you get a spreadable paste. Use it on your face and body before a shower. Follow up with your shower gel and face wash.

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

To make this refreshing peppermint sugar scrub, you simply need to mix together enough fine sugar and coconut or olive oil to make a spreadable paste. Add in few drops of peppermint essential oil or a teaspoon or so of peppermint powder and your peppermint sugar scrub is ready. Mix it well and store it in an airtight container. Use it on your face and body both.

Brightening Sugar Scrub

To make this brightening sugar scrub, add 3 tablespoons of orange peel powder and a tablespoon of wild turmeric to 1/3 cup of fine sugar. Mix it well and add in some coconut oil or any oil base that works well for your skin. Mix it all well and use it as a face and body scrub.

Anti-Acne Scrub

To make this anti-acne and purifying sugar scrub, you need to mix together enough quantities of fine sugar and sweet almond oil. Add in few drops of tea tree essential oil and mix it really well. Use it on your face and body before a shower. Make sure that you are not using this on active acne. This scrub is great for face and body acne both.

Whipped Sugar Scrub

To make the super moisturizing and creamy whipped sugar scrub, you need 1/3 cup of fine sugar, 1/4 cup of melted shea butter and 1 teaspoon or a little lesser beeswax. Mix the butter and wax together and melt it in the microwave. Let it sit on the countertop for a few minutes and add and fine sugar and some jojoba oil. Whip this mixture until it is fluffy and creamy. Transfer this to an easy-to-use container and use it as a face and body scrub before a shower.
