Exfoliation is an integral part of any skincare routine and we all are aware of the benefits of exfoliation. Exfoliation is nothing but removal of dead skin layer to reveal fresh new skin. It also boosts circulation and keeps your skin glowing and healthy. We normally all tend to focus on facial skin care but we often ignore the fact that your body also needs as much importance as your facial skin. Just as you exfoliate your facial skin regularly, you have to exfoliate your body as well. There are a lot of commercial body scrubs available but if you are looking for and all natural recipe, I have my top 8 body scrub recipes below –
8 BODY SCRUB RECIPES
Basic Sugar Scrub
This one is a super simple and really basic sugar scrub recipe. All you need is one cup of fine sugar and enough coconut oil to make a gritty yet spreadable paste. Mix both these ingredients and use it as a body scrub before a shower.
Oats Scrub
This particular scrub is super gentle and has skin softening and calming properties. This scrub is also great if you have a body acne or scarring. All you need to do is mix half a cup of rolled oats with enough yogurt to make a sticky paste. Use this to massage your body before or after a shower and rinse it off. This is great for sensitive and dry skin too.
Pink Salt Scrub
To make this pink salt scrub, you need half cup of fine Himalayan pink salt. If you have chunky pink salt, you can grind it until it is fine. Mix half cup of fine pink salt with enough almond oil or olive oil and put in few drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix it really well and use it as a body scrub before a shower.
Coffee Scrub
To make this body scrub, you need half cup of coffee grounds (you can also reuse coffee grounds) and enough olive oil or coconut oil to make a spreadable mixture. Use this to scrub your body before a shower.
Rice Scrub
Rice has skin polishing and brightening effects. To make rice scrub, you first need to grind dry rice grains until it is fine and gritty. Add in enough milk to make a paste and use this to scrub your body before or after a shower. If you have dry skin, I would recommend you scrub your body with this after you’re done with your shower and then rinse it off with plain water.
Epsom Salt Scrub
To make this detoxing salt scrub, you need fine Epsom salt. You can grind half cup of Epsom salt until it is fine and mix it with enough olive oil to make a spreadable paste. Use this to scrub your body before a shower. Add in essential oils of your choice if you like.
Charcoal Scrub
To make charcoal scrub, mix together 1/3 cup of activated charcoal powder with enough coconut oil and 1/4 cup of bentonite clay. Use this to scrub your body before a shower. This is an amazing scrub if you have body acne.
Turmeric Srub
To make a very basic and super effective turmeric scrub, mix together 1/3 cup of whole wheat flour, 1 tablespoon of wild turmeric powder and enough milk or yogurt to make a paste. Massage it on your body and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes before you rinse it off.
NOTE-
- After you are done exfoliating, make sure you moisturize enough to keep your skin well hydrated and soft.
- Always patch test beforehand to make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients or products.
