Winter is here and we do not want to miss going out and chill in the warm winter sun. But the most common skin issues we come across during this winter season is that flaky skin, dark patchy skin around mouth, acne, dry and dull skin. So with these changing weathers there’s a need to make changes in the skincare routine as well. That being said, one can make their skin soft, radiant, supple and glowing with the help of homemade winter face masks. Top 10 Winter Face Masks

1. Curd face mask

As we all know that the curd is rich in lactic acid and alpha-hydroxy acid which is helpful in removal of dead skin cells. In addition to that, honey adds in moisture to the skin and soothes and wild turmeric helps in keeping the acnes at bay acting as anti-bacterial agent.

Recipe – Take a small mixing bowl and add 2 tablespoon of curd, pinch of wild turmeric powder and honey as per the consistency you need. Give them a good mix and apply the pack all over your face and leave it on for 20mins. 

2. Avocado mask

Avocado helps in adding the moisture to the skin with its abundance of B-carotene and lecithin. Raw milk helps in cleansing the face thoroughly and adds shine. Honey gives soothing effect to the skin.

Recipe – Take a bowl and add 2 tablespoon of mashed avocado, 1 teaspoon of rosewater, 1 teaspoon of raw milk and honey as per the consistency you need. Give them all a very good mix and apply it all over your face and neck. Leave the mask on for 20mins and then wash it off with plain water.

3. Sandalwood face mask

This is one of the best winter face mask for dull, flaky and dry skin. Sandalwood helps in preventing the acnes, reduces the signs of aging and wrinkles. 

Recipe – just rub over the sandalwood stick with the help of raw milk on the grinding stone to get some paste from it. Adding 2 teaspoon of sandalwood powder should be fine if you do not have the sandalwood stick. To this you can add some raw milk and honey as per the consistency you need. Apply the mask all over the face and neck. Leave it on for 20mins and then wash it off with plain water.

4. Rice face mask

Rice is rich in ferulic acid and allantoin which can soothe dry skin and has great natural sunscreen properties. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe skin burns and keeps acnes at bay. 

Recipe – Take a bowl and add 2 tablespoon of rice flour, 1 teaspoon of raw milk, 1/2 teaspoon of honey, pinch of wild turmeric powder and ¼ teaspoon of coconut oil. Give them all a very good mix and apply the mask in upward direction with the help of brush. Leave the mask on for 15mins and then wash it off with warm water.

5. Oatmeal mask

Oats contain saponins which serve as natural cleanser in turn helps in cleansing the oil and dirt that clogs pores. Raw milk helps in cleansing the face thoroughly and adds shine.

Recipe – take a small bowl and add 1 ½ tablespoon of oatmeal, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of raw milk and few drops of your favorite essential oil as per your skin needs.

6. Papaya face mask

Papaya contains an enzyme called papain which helps in rejuvenating the skin and removes dead skin cells. Raw milk helps in cleansing the pores and soothes skin.

Recipe – Mash the papaya to the thick paste and add in some raw milk and honey as per the consistency you need. Apply the paste all over your skin and leave it on for 20mins. Wash it off with plain water and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.

7. Two ingredient face mask

Honey helps in keeping acnes at bay due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and also helps in soothing the skin. Rose water helps in toning the skin.

Recipe – take a small bowl and add equal quantities of honey and rose water. Give them a good mix and apply all over your face with the help of cotton ball. Leave it on for 15 to 20mins and then follow up with the face wash with plain water. Can also add few drops of lemon juice.

8. Almond face mask

This serves as an ideal face mask for people with dry skin. Almonds are rich in vitamin E and serves as an excellent skin moisturizer.

Recipe – All you need to do is that, just mix a 1 tablespoon of almond powder and 2 tablespoon of raw milk. Give them a good mix and apply all over the face. Leave it on for 20mins and then wash it off with plain water. Those allergic with dairy products can switch to pure almond milk which should be fine.

9. Milk cream and honey face mask

Milk cream or malai has one of the best natural moisturizing properties which help in making your skin soft and supple. Honey gives soothing effect to the skin.

Recipe – Mix 2 parts of malai and 1 parts of honey. Apply the mixture all over the face and neck with the good massage. Leave the mask on for 20mins and wash it off with mild cleanser.

10. Olive oil and almond oil

Olive oil helps in reducing the signs of premature aging due to its anti-oxidant content. It has anti-bacterial and moisturizing effects. Adding olive along with almond oil adds extra benefits.

Recipe – Mix olive oil and almond oil in equal quantities. Massage the face thoroughly and leave it on for 20mins. Remove it with the help of cotton pads and then follow up with the face wash with your favorite cleanser.

Note-

  • Patch test is mandatory before using any of the winter face masks recipes mentioned above.
  • Acne-prone and oily-skin people can skip adding raw milk to the recipes instead can adjust the consistency with honey.
  • Can apply these packs twice or thrice a week.
