Tea tree essential oil is found dominantly in a lot of skin care commercial products and I absolutely love using it in my home-made recipes and DIYs as well. Since I have acne prone and problematic skin, tea tree essential oil is what I frequently use in my home-made recipes and I also use a lot of commercial products that contain this particular ingredient. It has amazing anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and skin clearing properties. Below I have mentioned how to use tea tree oil for skin in the best ways possible –

TEA TREE OIL FOR SKIN: BENEFITS AND USES

Serum for Acne Prone Skin

Tea tree oil has great anti-acne benefits and it targets acne and pimples to the core. To make this serum for acne prone skin, you need few drops of tea tree essential oil, 2 to 3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and few drops of jojoba carrier oil. In a bowl, add all these three ingredients and mix it really well until it emulsifies. If you want a thinner consistency, add in some rose water. Transfer this to an easy-to-use pump or dropper bottle and your serum for acne prone skin is ready. To use, take a small quantity and massage it onto your skin until fully absorbed. Best used before bedtime and under your sunscreen.

Skin Clearing Night Cream

To make the skin clarifying and clearing night cream, you need 2 tablespoons of soft shea butter, a teaspoon or so of jojoba carrier oil, few drops of tea tree essential oil and a teaspoon of rosehip oil. Whip the mixture until fluffy and transfer this to an easy-to-use jar. Your skin clearing night cream is ready. Because shia butter is non-comedogenic, it makes a great butter base in this recipe. To use, take a small quantity and massage it onto your skin until fully absorbed.

Acne Gel

To make this skin clearing acne gel, you need 3 to 4 tablespoons of commercial aloe vera gel, 5 to 6 drops of tea tree essential oil and few drops of peppermint essential oil. Mix this in a bowl until fully emulsified and turbid. Transfer this to an easy-to-use jar and your acne gel is ready. You can use this on your facial skin before bedtime and also during the day under your sunscreen.

Sleeping Mask for Problematic Skin

To make this sleeping mask for problematic skin, you need equal quantities of shea butter and mango butter. Make it soft in the microwave and add in few drops of tea tree essential oil. Whip the mixture until creamy and your sleeping mask for problematic skin is ready. Apply a very small quantity on your facial skin before bedtime. If you have oily skin or do not want to use a heavy sleeping mask, you can skip mango butter and add in aloe vera gel instead.

Clarifying Face Oil

To make this clarifying and pore unclogging facial oil, you need 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil, 1 tablespoon of rosehip oil, few drops of tea tree and peppermint essential oil. You can also add in argan oil for extra skin benefits. Mix all the ingredients and transfer to an easy to use dropper bottle. To use, add a few drops on your palms and rub to warm it up. Pat this oil on your facial skin and use it as a last step in your night time skin care routine.

Body Butter for Body Acne

Body acne can be really stubborn but using this tea tree body butter can gradually help make your skin clear. To make this body butter, you need 2 tablespoons of avocado butter, 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil and 10 drops of tea tree essential oil. Make sure that the avocado butter is at room temperature or softened in the microwave. Whip until it is spreadable and creamy and transfer it to an easy-to-use jar. Use it as a body butter after shower.

Acne Spot Treatment

To make this acne spot treatment, you need a teaspoon of calamine powder, 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and five drops of tea tree essential oil. Mix all of this together until lump free and homogenous and transfer to an easy-to-use jar. Using a Q-Tip, apply this on your acne spots before bedtime.

Detoxing Face Wash

To make this detoxing and skin clarifying face wash, You need half cup of liquid Castile soap and 1/3 cup of rose water along with few drops of tea tree essential oil. In a mixing bowl or a jar, add Castile soap, rose water and tea tree essential oil and give it a gentle stir. Transfer this to an easy-to-use pump bottle and your detoxing face wash is already. Use it as a regular face wash.

  • Patch test before hand to make sure none of the ingredients or products cause any kind of allergic reaction.
  • Stick to a routine for a longer period for it to show any effect.
  • If you are pregnant or lactating, consult your doctor before incorporating essential oils in your routine.
