We all wait for summer, be it the vacations, planning picnics, going to beaches, planning parties, hanging out to water rides, swimming and what not? We often neglect our skin and hair that can result in sun damage! There are many hair problems that can be caused due to summer. Problems encountered due to summer can vary from person to person, but the worst part is thinning of hair. Summer can be too harsh on your scalps hence resulting hair loss, dries out your hair hence resulting in itchy scalp, may cause dandruff, sometimes oily scalp etc. Below are some super effective summer hair masks you need to try-
TOP 8 SUMMER HAIR MASKS:
Rice Mask for Dry and Damaged Hair
Things you need:
- 1 to 2 tbsp of Cooked rice
- 2 tbsp of Coconut oil
Directions:
This is one of the best summer hair masks! To prepare this hair mask, all you need is the freshly cooked rice. Take the required amount of cooked rice into the blender and add coconut oil and blend it smooth paste. Make sure to adjust the quantity according to your hair length. Apply the mask all over your hair and scalp, and leave it on for 1 hour and then wash it off.
Caution:
Make sure the cooked rice is fresh as much as possible. Do not use stale or old cooked rice.

Rice is known for its hair beautifying benefits like promoting hair growth, providing better nourishment and helps in strengthening the roots. Adds shine, conditions hair and makes it super shiny and silly thanks to amino acids in it.
Tea tree mask for Dandruff
Things you need:
- Around 2 to 5 drops of Tea tree oil
- Aloe vera gel
Directions:
Take a blender and squeeze out the gel of aloe vera plucked from your garden, blend it to make juice. Now add the tea tree oil and and give it a good mix. Apply this mask carefully concentrating your scalp. Leave it on for 1 hour and then wash it off.
Caution:
Make sure you are not allergic to both tea tree oil and aloe vera gel. If not, can be used without any hesitation but within moderation limits.

Tea tree oil is very beneficial in treating dandruff. Promotes healthy hair, cleanses the scalp, moisturizes the hair and treats dry hair too. Has anti-microbial and purifying properties.
Hot oil Mask for Sun Damage
Thing you need:
- 1 small cup of coconut oil
- Half cup of olive oil
- 3 tbsp of jojoba oil
- Shower cap
Directions:
Pour all the oils into the same cup and give it a good mix. Then by double boil method, just heat the oil. Apply the oil all over the scalp and the hair, focusing on the ends. Tie a bun and cover the head with shower cap. Leave it on for 30 to 45 mins and then wash it off.
Caution:
Never ever apply the hot oil directly to scalp which can cause damage to the roots.

Coconut cream mask for silky hair
Things you need:
- Coconuts
- Water
Directions:
Cut the coconut into pieces and put them into the blender and add required amount of water. Blend it to smooth and sieve to get the mixture. Pour the same into the bowl, after some time the cream and water will get separated. If you need the thicker cream, can refrigerate for some time and then use. Apply the cream all over the hair right from scalp. Leave it on for 30minutes and then wash it off. (Can even apply the readily available product from the market)
Caution:
When preparing the coconut cream, make sure you prepare in the minimal amount since its shelf life is very less.

Castor oil hair mask for nourishment
Things you need:
- Castor oil
Directions:
All you need to do is to warm the castor oil as per your hair length. Massage it nicely and leave it on (wear a shower cap to boost penetration) and shampoo after 3 hours.
Caution:
Make sure you don’t keep it for too long since it may cause cold for some people.

Flax seed mask for rough hair
Things you need:
- Half cup of Flaxseeds
- Water
Directions:
Take a vessel, add the flaxseeds and little water so that flaxseeds is just immersed in the water. Start boiling it by giving it a good amount of stir. You can see that it starts forming into gel. Strain it and use it as gel. Apply this gel all over your hair concentrating the scalp. Leave it on for 30 mins and then wash it off.

Things you need:
- Aloe vera plant

Take a knife and remove all the jelly from the aloe leaf and add it to the blender and blend it until smooth. Apply this gel and give a good massage to the scalp. Wash it off after 1 hour.

Make sure you are not allergic to aloe vera since it causes itchiness in scalp in some people. Make sure to not use yellow latex.
Banana Mask for dry, damaged hair ends:
Things you need:
- 1 large banana
- 1 to 2 tbsp Honey
Directions:
Take a blender and put chopped banana pieces and blend it to smooth paste. Now add the honey as per the requirement and give it a good mix. Apply this paste to hair focusing on the hair ends. Wash it off after 30 to 45 mins.
