We are back with another hair mask recipe! To get a longer, stronger and shinier hair to flaunt has been a dream for so many of us; but disturbed sleep cycles, unhealthy diet, excessive usage of heat styling tools, usage of random shampoos without proper understanding of your hair type may cause your hair to fall leaving nothing but bald spots or thin hair. Rice
Adding rice to your hair care routine greatly helps in promoting hair growth. It improves the overall texture of your hair and strengthens your hair follicles and prevents breakage. One of the essential carbohydrate present in rice in inositol which penetrates deep into the scalp and repairs damaged hair and conditions your hair. Rice is enriched with B Vitamins which includes folate also. This folate deeply nourishes your hair and adds shine to your hair. It helps in the regeneration of new hairs.
Coconut Milk
Coconut milk acts as a natural conditioner and promotes hair growth. This restores moisture in your hair thereby reducing frizziness. It contains Vitamin E and Vitamin C in huge amounts which minimises the problems of dandruff and itchy scalp. It helps in reducing bald spots. Coconut milk is rich in Lauric acid which is essential for hair growth and the conditioning of hair. It is said that it slows down the process of hair loss and strengthens the hair follicles.
Castor Oil
Traditionally castor oil is being used as a remedy to promote hair growth in bald spots. It enhances the overall texture of the hair. It fights inflammation and also prevents premature greying of hair. This provides solution to flaky scalp and increases hair density. Castor oil has omega-6 fatty acid which boost blood circulation in the scalp which aids in hair growth.
METHOD:
Things you need:
- Cooked rice – 1/3 cup
- Coconut milk – ½ cup
- Castor oil – 3 tablespoons
Directions:
To make the rice mask, you’ll need cooked rice. In order to make the cooked rice, take 1/3 cup rice and add 2 cups water to it and cook the rice. Strain the water and take the rice out of it. Then take a mixer and add the cooked rice and add ½ coconut milk. Coconut milk can be easily made at home or it you can use a store bought coconut milk. If you wish to make coconut milk at home, take a mixer and add grated coconut and some water and grind it well without any coconut chunks. After grinding the grated coconut, squeeze the milk out of it using a strainer. Voila! Your coconut milk is ready to use.
After adding coconut milk, add 3 tablespoons castor oil and grind all the 3 ingredients in a mixer until everything combines and forms a smooth paste like consistency. Apply this mask on your hair from roots to ends. Leave it for 30-40 minutes and rinse your hair using a mild shampoo. You can also use the strained rice water to rinse your hair. After rinsing your hair with rice water, make sure to wash it off using normal water. This will add shine to your hair.
NOTE:
- Make sure to perform a patch test before using this mask.
- Do not use more than 3 tablespoons of castor oil as it might cause cold to some.
- The quantity of ingredients used can be adjusted according to your hair length and density.
- Use organic ingredients for best results.
