OATMEAL BEAUTY RECIPES
Sunburn
If you have a sunburn or sun damaged skin as well, oatmeal can soothe your skin and make it calm. You can blend rolled oats with some water or almond milk and extract oatmeal milk. Apply this on the sunburn directly and let it sit. Do not rinse it off. Alternatively, you can also add oatmeal milk to your regular bath water and soak in for 20 minutes.
Acne
Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that makes it a great ingredient for treating acne. You can make oatmeal mask by mixing together rolled oats and enough rose water or milk, whatever suits you. Apply an even layer on your facial skin and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash it off and pat dry. You can also add in few drops of tea tree essential oil for added benefits.
Exfoliate
Rolled oats work as a very gentle exfoliant and helps buff away that skin layer. This works for both body, face and scalp. Simply mix together rolled oats and some rose water or coconut oil/milk. Use this to exfoliate your body and face. Can also be used on scalp before using a shampoo.
Scalp Detox
To make your very own scalp detox to control oily scalp and to remove product buildup, you need rolled oats and enough green tea. Mix together brewed green tea and rolled oats to make a spreadable paste. Massage this on your scalp before using a shampoo.
Soft Hair
If you have rough and dry hair or if your hair is damaged and frizzy, you can use oatmeal hair mask. Simply blend together half cup of rolled oats, enough greek yogurt and few drops of your favorite essential oil. Blend it until it is creamy and smooth. Apply this on your scalp and hair and use a shampoo after 3 to 4 hours.
Soft Skin
If you have rough and patchy skin, oatmeal can help you achieve soft moisturized skin. All you need to do is mix together oatmeal flour and milk to make a spreadable paste. Apply this on your facial skin and neck and let it sit for 30 minutes before you rinse it off.
Itchiness
If you have itchy skin or itchy scalp, you can make your own facial and scalp mist using oatmeal. Soak oatmeal and rose water for 30 minutes and strain out the extract. You can mist it on your facial skin, on your body or on your scalp whenever you feel necessary. Do not rinse it off.
Dry Skin
If you have dry skin, mixture of oatmeal and avocado can be your best friend. Blend or mix together avocado pulp and enough oatmeal flour to make a spreadable paste. Apply this on your facial skin or on your body if you have dry skin there. Let it sit for 20 minutes before you wash it off.
