Moisturizer

If coconut oil suits your skin type, feel free to whip up your very own coconut oil moisturizer and use it too. All you need is half cup of coconut oil add 3 tablespoons of jojoba oil. Add in few drops of essential oils if you like and whip it  up until it is light and fluffy. Transfer this with whipped mixture in an easy to use jar and use it on your body and on your face if you have severely dry skin. Please note that coconut oil is comedogenic in nature and if you have sensitive acne prone Skin, refrain from using it.

Dry skin mist

If you have severely dry skin or if you have dry skin patches due to winters, you can make your own skin moisturizing mist. In a spray bottle, simply combine half cup of rosewater and one tablespoon of melted coconut oil. Shake it really well and spray it on your skin after a shower. Massage it in and you are done.

Body scrub

To make your very own body scrub , all you need is half cup of fine sugar and enough coconut oil. If you have granulated sugar, grind it to fine powder before using. Mix together fine sugar and coconut oil until you have a gritty mixture and store it in an easy to use jar. Add and some tea tree or peppermint essential oil for added benefits. Massage this scrub in the shower on damp skin followed by your regular forming shower gel or soap. Use it once or twice a week.

Massaging oil

Coconut oil makes a great massaging oil thanks to its nourishing and moisturizing properties. To make your own body massage in oil, mix together half cup of coconut oil and 1/3 cup of almond oil. Use this to massage your face and your body both. Makes a great pre shower body massaging oil.

Coconut oil has antibacterial and anti fungal properties that also helps treat toenail fungus when used regularly. All you have to do is apply coconut oil directly on your toenail fungus before sleeping and throughout the day as well. For added benefits, add in few drops of turmeric or tea tree essential oil.

Apply this on your scalp and hair and let it sit for 2 to 3 hours. Can also be used as an overnight hair treatment. Shampoo it off and let your hair air dry.

Coconut oil can be used to prevent split ends in a long run. All you have to do is add a tablespoon of melted coconut oil to half cup of rose water and transfer it to a spray bottle. Shake it really well and spray on the ends of your hair after a hair wash and massage it. Do not rinse it off and let it stay as a leave on treatment.

Define curls

Coconut oil can help define your curls and waves. All you have to do is combined together 2 tablespoon of shea butter, one teaspoon of coconut oil and few drops of lavender essential oil. Whip it together and your curling cream is ready. Apply a very small quantity and scrunch it onto your towel dried hair after every hair wash to define your curls.

Hair cream

If you have really dry and damaged hair, you can use a hair cream made using coconut oil and aloe Vera gel. In other words, you can also call it aloe butter. For this, you need half cup of coconut oil and half cup of commercial aloe vera gel. Mix both the ingredients together and whip until fluffy. Transfer to an easy to use jar and use a very small quantity all over your hair while it is still damp after hair wash.

  • If you have really sensitive skin that gets clogged easily, do not use coconut oil for skin.
  • If you have oily scalp and hair, do not use coconut oil as a leave on treatment but you can use it as a hair mask.
