Hibiscus flowers and hibiscus leaves are quite known in Ayurveda for their skin and hair care benefits. You also get dried hibiscus flower powder to be used in DIY skin care and hair care recipes but if you already have a hibiscus plant in your garden, you can use fresh hibiscus flower petals for skin care. I also have hibiscus plant in my home garden and I absolutely love using it in my beauty recipes. Today, I will be sharing my go to hibiscus face mask recipe which is super simple and effective-
BENEFITS:
Hibiscus Flowers- Hibiscus contains various compounds that have a gentle exfoliating effect on the skin that helps buff away dead skin layer that gives you a more radiant, even toned complexion. It helps increase cell turnover and makes your skin smoother and softer. Hibiscus also gradually helps lighten dark spots and produces the frequency of breakouts. Gives a soft glow to your skin and makes it look dewy and plump.
Rice Flour- Rice flour too has gentle exfoliating properties that helps buff away dead skin layer and makes your skin softer and smoother. Rice also has can brightening effect that helps even out skin tone, lighten sun tan, lighten pigmentation and any dark spots as well. Rice nourishes the skin and helps prevent acne and also adds a very healthy glow to the skin.
Essential Oils- Adding essential oils in the recipe is an optional step but you can definitely go ahead and use any essential oil that works for your skin type. I would highly recommend you use rose essential oil or if you have acne prone skin you can add tea tree or peppermint essential oil to the recipe. You can also alternatively use turmeric or lavender essential oil.
