People these days are looking out for dairy milk substitutes including me! I am on a low carbohydrate diet and I do not consume dairy milk. If you are someone who is also following a low carbohydrate diet or dairy free diet or even if you do not consume animal products, vegan milk is the best option. There are a lot of milk substitutes and I have written a detailed article on the same right here.

Here I will share a detailed recipe on how you can make banana milk which is nothing but milk extracted from banana pulp. Not only is it delicious but it works just as dairy milk in a lot of smoothie and shake recipes. Also, it is full of nutrients and super healthy and you just need four ingredients!

BANANA MILK RECIPE- Vegan Milk Option

RECIPE FOR BANANA MILK

Things you need-

  • 2 medium sized bananas
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3-4 dates

Directions-

To make this vegan milk, add to medium-sized banana pulp in a blender along with water. Add in vanilla extract and dates. Blend it all really well until it is smooth and lump free. Using a nut milk cloth, strain out the milk and squeeze out all the extract nicely (you can skip this step). You can have this directly. Also, you can use this to make your shakes and smoothies. If you want to use this in your regular recipes and do not want it to be sweet, you can skip the vanilla essence and dates.

WAYS TO USE

  • Use banana milk to make your regular breakfast smoothies or shakes. You can also blend it with your protein powder to make it a great after-workout drink.
  • You can add this milk in your cake recipes instead of adding dairy milk. It pretty much works the same, in fact better.
  •  You can also add banana milk into your fruit juice sorbet recipes to make sure that it tastes more like an ice cream.
  • You can add in some more banana pulp and reduce the quantity of water (or maybe skip it completely) and freeze it. After 24 hours, you will have your own vegan ice cream. Feel free to add in your favorite ingredients like cocoa powder, chocolate chips, peanut butter etc.
  • You can skip adding the sweetener and vanilla essence and use this banana milk in your pasta recipes and gravies.
