If you stay in areas that have high humidity or if it is monsoon season, you probably also suffer from frizzy and unmanageable hair. High humidity can make your hair super frizzy and tough to manage but it isn’t completely out of your hand to control frizzy hair. With little care, remedies and products; you can definitely keep frizziness under control and make your hair super smooth, soft and manageable. I have hip length hair And I stay in a hot humid area and these are some of the things that I do to keep my hair smoother and manageable-

Natural Ways To Tame Frizzy Hair

DIY serum

I love using hair serums and I use both homemade as well as commercial hair serums. If you are looking at DIY hair serum recipe, here it is! Mix together 1/3 cup of commercial aloe vera gel, one teaspoon of almond oil and few drops of lavender essential oil. Mix until it is well emulsified and homogeneous and transfer it to an easy to use pump bottle. Use this on towel dried hair to control frizz and keep hair moisturized and hydrated.

Using a Wooden Comb

Wooden comb is always better than using a plastic comb. It helps control frizz and keeps your hair sleek and adds shine. I keep switching between my tangle teaser and a wooden comb and my hair has never been thisĀ  smoother and manageable. If you’ve never used wooden home and have frizzy hair, you should definitely give it a try.

Aloe Vera Hair Mask

I have an aloe vera plant at home and I absolutely love using it as a hair mask. Not only does it help control frizz but also boost hair growth and makes her super shiny and silky. Simple cut a fresh aloe Vera leaf and let the latex run down. Cut it from the center and scoop out the aloe vera gel using a spoon. Transfer this aloe vera gel to a blender and blend it until it is lump-free. Apply this on your scalp and hair and let it sit for 2 to 3 hours before you use a shampoo.

Hot Oil Treatment

Hot oil treatments are one of my favorite ways to add a boost of moisture and nourishment to my hair and not only does it help control frizz but also makes my hair super silky and rejuvenated. Combine equal quantities of coconut oil and castor oil and add a few drops of essential oils after warming it up. Apply it on your scalp and hair and massage for a few minutes. Where a shower cap and shampoo as you normally would after 2 to 3 hours.

Satin Pillow Case

Sleeping on satin pillow cases have so many benefits for skin and hair. Not only does it help delay fine lines and wrinkles but it also reduces hair breakage, frizziness and in fact makes your hair shiny and soft. Invest in a good satin pillowcase and sleep on it every single day. If you feel that satin pillow cases are quite expensive, you can just buy a satin fabric and get your pillowcase custom made. That would be inexpensive and a simple way to make yourself a certain pillowcase the way you want.

Avoid Using Hair Dryers and Heat Styling Tools

I have seen people complaining about their hair being too frizzy and rough but can never let go their hair dryers and heat styling tools. The main culprit behind your frizzy and unruly hair is heat! I absolutely avoid using a hair dryer and heat styling tools as much as I could and that is the best thing you can ever do to your hair. Use them only when absolutely necessary otherwise just give it a skip. You can let your hair air dry under a fan and for styling you can use heat-less tips like knot curls, sock waves, bandana curls etc.

Microfiber cloth to dry hair

Letting your hair air dry is the best decision As using a hair dryer can make your hair really frizzy and rough. If you have thick and long hair, letting your hair air dry can be a really tough task. In this scenario, you can use a microfiber cloth to wrap your hair after hair wash so that it soaks all the excess water and your hair dries super quick.

Sulfate free shampoo

Have you ever noticed that using a sulfate containing shampoo definitely does make your hair look good and removes all the excess sebum but it also makes your hair frizzy. That is because, it strips your hair off its natural oils leaving your hair more exposed and it becomes frizzy especially if the weather is humid and hot. Try switching to a sulfate-free shampoo to see a change.

Hair butter

If you have really dry hair and specially if they are colored, reducing frizz can be a real tough task. Always make sure that you moisturize your hair length or at least the ends of your hair to keep your hair more manageable and silkier. You can make your own hair butter by simply whipping together shea butter and almond oil. Use it only on towel dried hair and only on the ends of your hair, away from the scalp. Make sure you are using a very very small quantity.
