Shea butter

Shea butter is also very moisturising for the hair and scalp. It is rich in high fatty acids thus making easy for it to penetrate deep which can prevent hair breakage. It has vitamin A and E with essential fatty acid which is why it helps to reduce dryness and prevent split ends. Adds shine and reduces frizziness. Shea butter has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce redness and scalp irritation. It has the role of conditioning and improving overall hair health by lubricating cuticles and strengthening hair follicles.  

Olive oil

Olive is a cleansing agent but many researches have been made on the effect it has on the hair. It has extreme moisturizing effect on the hair. It adds shine, softness and strengthens the hair follicles penetrating deep inside and locks the moisture. Olive oil helps to retain the hair length. Let’s keep it real and simple. Olive oil doesn’t help to grow your hair and it even doesn’t thicken your hair but it is known for its natural hair conditioning properties. But it helps your hair not having split ends. Nevertheless, it varies from person to person and the hair growth may be seen as a result of their age and scalp health.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil has several benefits and is used in almost all the hair DIYs. When used as a leave-in treatment it helps seal moisture content in hair. Helps treating dry and flaky scalp, prevents split ends and hair breakage. Coconut oil is the best in getting frizz-free hair and the fatty acids in coconut oil have anti-microbial properties that help in treating scalp from dandruff and microorganisms. And mainly helps in promoting hair growth.

Castor oil

Castor oil is known for hair growth and is known for treating hair loss. Applying fats like castor oil on the hair on regular basis helps in lubricating the hair shaft, increases the flexibility and decreases the chances of breakage. It also treats dandruff, itchy scalp, dry and flaky scalp.

Method

Things you need:

  • 3 tablespoon of shea butter
  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of black castor oil
  • Few drops of essential oil (optional and as per your choice)

Directions:

To prepare this hair butter, take a mixing bowl and add 3 tablespoon of shea butter (should be softened by the microwave for few seconds before whipping), 2 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of black castor oil. Whip it nicely. Now add few drops of essential oil and give it a very good mix. Transfer it to the small mason jar and store it in a cool place. Moisturize and nourish your hair with this hair butter and follow up with the hair wash with mild shampoo while you shower. Do this twice a week.

Note

  • Patch test is mandatory before you use this recipe and check if it works for your hair.
  • Use the fresh batch as much as possible.
  • Discard the usage in case you feel any scalp irritation. 
  • Do not expect instant results.
  • Use organic products/ ingredients for best results and to maintain the scalp health.
  • Can adjust the quantity required as per the hair length.
  • Apply your regular hair oil after 1 or 2 days and follow up with the hair wash and conditioner.
  • Hair growth doesn’t happen overnight. Hence maintain consistency to see the best results.
