This Golden Milk will boost your immunity and it also helps in detoxification. Drinking this milk will not only improve the overall health of your immune system but also takes care of indigestion, sore throat, dry cough and cold. Benefits of ingredients used in the Golden Milk recipe:

Milk:

Milk has various health benefits and is enriched with proteins and vitamins. Since it has potassium and calcium, it helps in the lowering of blood pressure and improves heart health and helps in the strengthening of bones. It is also contains Vitamin D which prevents osteoporosis.

Turmeric:

Turmeric helps in removing the toxins from the blood and purifies the blood. This spice is traditionally used in Indian foods from ancient times to enhance flavour and colour of the food. This has anti-inflammatory properties. The active component curcumin in turmeric is said to have potent benefits when it comes to health. Turmeric is said to provide relief from cough and cold. 

Ground Ginger:

Ginger provides relief from sore throat. It has anti-inflammatory qualities and it is also known to treat nausea. It also helps with digestion. Offers an excellent treatment against cold and cough and helps build immunity. It also gives a nice flavour when it is added to milk or any food. Ginger also helps with stomach and intestinal problems and helps with bloating. Studies show that it also offer a great relief to menstrual cramps.

Cinnamon:

Cinnamon has powerful medicinal properties and is known to have anti-bacterial, anti-viral and also anti-fungal properties. It also reduces blood sugar level and helps with diabetes. Cinnamon also helps in lowering the bad cholesterol level. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. It also ease the pain of arthritis and headache.

Clear honey:

Honey is a great substitute for sugar and is rich in antioxidants. It has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Helps in relieving cough and cold and also protects the body from inflammation. It also offers a great relief, if you have sore throat. Honey also helps you in the process of losing weight.

Black pepper:

Black pepper has anti-inflammatory properties and is also an excellent source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and potassium. It also provides strength to bones. It also improves metabolism. Apart from various health benefits that black pepper has, it also adds flavour to the food – a bit of spiciness. Black pepper also helps in treating throat infection.

METHOD:

Things you need:

  • Milk – 500 ml
  • Turmeric – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground ginger – ¼ tablespoon
  • Cinnamon – 1/4 tablespoon
  • Clear honey – 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper – a pinch

Directions:

In order to make this golden recipe, boil the milk and add turmeric while it is simmering. Then add ground ginger. If you don’t have ground ginger, take a small piece of ginger and crush it well and add it in the milk. Then add the cinnamon powder or a small piece of cinnamon stick and add a tablespoon of honey followed by black pepper powder. If you don’t have pepper powder, take 2-3 pepper corns, crush it well and add it to the mixture. After adding all the spices, let the milk boil in low flame for about 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, strain the milk and serve. 

NOTE:

  • Pregnant ladies are advised to take ginger only after their doctor’s advice.
  • If you’re suffering from ulcer, do not add ginger or ground ginger excessively. It is better to skip ginger. 
  • This recipe will serve two people. So, stick to the measurements of the ingredients listed above unless you want to serve more than two.
