Flax seed

Flax seed gel is enriched with omega-3 fatty acids which soothes irritated skin and slows down the signs of ageing. It tightens the skin and helps in regulating the oil secretion. Also provides hydration for dull, dry and flaky skin. It also gives protection against sun damage caused by harmful UV rays since it has omega-3.

Aloe Gel

Aloe vera gel has umpteen number of benefits when it comes to skincare. It treats acne and makes the skin soft. It provides hydration and gives relief from irritated skin. If you are worried about sun damage, don’t stress yourself. Aloe vera gives protection against sun damage too. Aloe vera also has folic acid which aids in improving the texture of the skin. It also has Vitamin C and Vitamin E which hydrates and moisturises the skin.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which fights acne. It is also known to reduce the fine lines and wrinkles. This removes the patchiness on the face giving it an even tone complexion. It diminishes clogged pores and leaves a calming effect when applied on the face.

Rosehip Oil

The rosehip oil has numerous skincare benefits. It is enriched with Vitamin A which helps is reducing acne and wrinkles. Rosehip oil can be used by everyone including sensitive skin people. It has anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory properties which reduces puffiness and redness and also gives a smooth skin. It also acts an exfoliator and also boost collagen formation thereby providing hydration and elasticity to the skin.

Rose Water

Rose water is abundant in Vitamin E which moisturises the face. Also rich in Vitamin C and stimulate collagen production. Rose water acts as an astringent which helps in unclogging the pores and cleanses the face gently. It also reduces excess sebum secretion and protects skin from the environment. It is also known to reduce hyperpigmentation and evens out your skin.

METHOD:

Things you need:

  • Flax seeds – Handful
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Aloe Gel – 1 Cup
  • Lavender Oil – Few drops
  • Rosehip Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Rose water – 1 cup

Directions:

In order to prepare flax toner, we need to make flax seed gel first. Take a handful of flax seeds in a pan and add 2 cups water and let it simmer until it forms a sticky gel consistency. Use a strainer to strain the gel. Make sure to strain the while it is hot or else it might be difficult to strain it. You can use a muslin cloth to squeeze the gel or any strainer with considerably large pores for the gel to pour in. You can store the excess flax gel in the refrigerator and store it up to 2 weeks without adding any preservatives.

After preparing the gel, take a bowl and 2 tbsps flax gel into the bowl and 1 tbsp aloe gel. Then add few drops of Lavender oil, 1 tablespoon Rosehip Oil and 1 cup Rose Water and mix everything together. Store this in a spray bottle and shake it well before every use. 

Usage:

Use the toner after cleansing your face. Spray evenly on your face and let it dry for a minute. If you don’t have a spray bottle, store in a normal bottle and use a cotton pad and dab the toner on to your face gently and wait for it to dry before applying any other skincare products.

  • If you’re allergic to any of the essential oils above, you can use almond oil as a substitute or any oil that works for your skin.
