Basil is one of my favourite skincare ingredients to use, thanks to its anti-acne and anti-inflammatory properties. I love using basil in both skincare and haircare and today we’re going to see how to actually make a basil face wash for acne prone skin. It is a super easy recipe with very minimal ingredients, and keep on reading to know how to make one for yourself –

RECIPE FOR BASIL FACE WASH

INGREDIENTS USED IN BASIL FACE WASH

Basil Powder

Basil is actually a plant-based moisturiser that works very well for dry, rough skin that is prone to acne. It contains natural antifungal and antibacterial benefits that makes this an ideal ingredient for acne prone skin. It also has skin healing properties and anti-inflammatory properties that helps calm down your skin and also reduce any kind of redness or irritation on the skin.

Liquid Castile Soap

Liquid Castile soap is a natural soap that is free from SLS. A lot of liquid Castile soaps in the market also contain natural vegetable or coconut oils that have moisturising benefits and helps in foaming as well. It does not dry out your skin yet it cleanses the pores and removes all kinds of dirt and grime.

Witch Hazel

Which hazel is a natural astringent that helps detox the skin, tighten large pores and deeply cleanse your skin. It has anti microbial properties that helps fight acne causing microbes, keeping your skin clean and clear with time. Regular usage of this particular ingredient in skincare helps reduce excess oil, which is also the main culprit behind frequent breakouts. It helps relieve a sunburn, prevent skin damage, calm any kind of skin irritation and keeps your skin in its top condition.

METHOD

Things You Need-

  • 1/4 Cup Liquid Castile Soap
  • 2 tbsps Basil Leaf Powder
  • 1/4 Cup Distilled Water
  • 3 tbsps Witch Hazel

Directions-

To make this anti-acne face wash, grab a bowl and add in distilled water, liquid castile soap, and witch hazel. Mix it all really well, but be gentle as you do not want to encourage forming. Add in basil leaf powder and gently stir until it is completely lump free. Once you’re done mixing all the ingredients together, transfer the prepared face wash in an easy to use pump bottle. Keep the bottle in a cool and dry place in your washroom and use it during the AM and PM skincare routine. 

Note-

  • Shelf life of the face wash depends on the shelf life of individual ingredients used in the recipe.
  • In case You’re allergic to basil, you can substitute it with Neem leaf powder as well.
  • Use this for a long period to see any visible effects.
  • Along with using this face wash, make sure you are not frequently touching your face or using skin care products that contains irritants to prevent acne.
