One such technique is ayurvedic hair rinse. Ayurveda suggests including herbs in your hair care routine and the same have been considered as natural hair cleansers from ages. This article is about one such recipe of ayurvedic hair rinse. This aromatic herbal hair rinse is infused with a blend of hair loving ayurvedic herbs. Haritaki powder

Haritaki powder is one of the extremely beneficial herbs in ayurveda for its role in improving hair health. It has got astringent properties that help to balance hair’s moisture. Being a potent constituent in triphala, haritaki helps in cleansing the hair follicles, gets rid of dirt and impurities. It is known to promote hair growth, treats scalp infections like dandruff, itching and hair fall. 

Hibiscus petals and leaves powder 

Hibiscus is rich in nutrients such as amino acids which are very necessary in producing the keratin. They stimulate hair re-growth and are capable of transforming from dormant follicles and even bald patches to thick and dense follicles when used regularly. We can easily count on the hibiscus for silky smooth hair and their leaves are also very beneficial. They are rich in invigorating ingredients that is flavonoids and amino acids that are very helpful in obtaining healthy strong hair.

Amla powder

The fatty acid present in the amla powder penetrates deep into the hair follicles making the hair healthier, soft, shinier and voluminous. It has high iron and keratin content thus helps with hair growth. It stops hair thinning and by adding into your diet even helps relives stress and helps from graying hair. Amla is great for treating dandruff due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and it even relieves scalp itchiness by restoring optimum pH values of scalp.

Lemon

Lemon is rich in vitamin C and possesses beneficial plant compounds. As it is rich in vitamin C it in turn can promote collagen production. The acidic nature of the lemon unclogs hair follicles and stimulates dormant. All these properties can be helpful in preventing the hair loss. Lemon also contains many nutrients and in turn that helps in strengthening the hair follicles and gives a way to new hair by encouraging the hair growth. It deeply cleanses scalp, restores pH levels and removes dirt and impurities.

Method 

Things you need:

  • 4 tbsp haritaki powder
  • 4 tbsp hibiscus petals powder 
  • 1 large lemon 
  • 4 tbsp hibiscus leaf powder
  • 4 tbsp amla powder 
  • 1 to 2 cups of filtered water

Directions:

To prepare this ayurvedic hair rinse, mix haritaki powder, hibiscus petals powder, hibiscus leaf powder and amla powder. Give a very good mix and store it in the airtight container. You can use this dry mixture on the previous day of your hair wash to rinse your hair with this hair cleanser. 

Take this dry mixture as per your requirement i.e., hair length and squeeze in some lemon juice to it. Give a good mix and soak it in the water (non-chlorinated) overnight. In the next morning, use this strained water to rinse your hair after shampooing and follow up with your regular conditioner. This dry mixture can be stored in an air-tight container up to 6 months

Note

  • Use the freshly solution paste as much as possible in order to maintain the scalp health.
  • Maintain consistency to see the best results.
  • Perform patch test before you use this remedy and check if you are allergic to any of the ingredient used in the ayurvedic hair rinse.
  • Use organic products/ ingredients for best results and to maintain the scalp health.
  • Do not expect instant results in case of hair care especially since hair growth period is very less and can vary from person to person.
