Honey is a well-known natural humectant and is used in so many beauty products and remedies. It has great hydrating and brightening properties and is also a great sugar substitute. I absolutely love using honey directly as a face mask all to massage my facial skin and today I thought of sharing a very unique DIY which is honey butter! You can use it in your beauty routine in so many different ways which I will share with you shortly. Below is a recipe for honey butter along with its benefits and different interesting ways to use it in your beauty routine –

RECIPE FOR DIY HONEY BUTTER

Things you need-

  • 3 tablespoons soft shea butter
  • 1 teaspoon raw organic honey
  • Vit E oil (if required)

Directions-

To make this butter, firstly add 3 tablespoons of soft shea butter in a bowl. If shea butter stays solid at room temperature, you might have to include some vitamin E oil in the recipe. Add in organic honey and whip it until you get a fluffy buttery texture. Transfer this to an easy-to-use jar and use it as and when required. Shelf life of the final product depends on the shelf-life of the ingredients used. Vitamin E oil also helps increase the shelf-life of the product.          

BENEFITS AND WAYS TO USE

Dry and Pigmented Lips

Honey is a natural humectant that keeps your lips moisturized and hydrated. It also has a natural bleaching properties that helps with pigmentation. You can use this honey butter as a lip butter during the day time and also as an overnight lip treatment. Slather a good amount on your lips before bedtime and wipe it off with a paper towel or tissue paper the next morning.

Dry Skin

If you have dry and flaky skin or if your skin tends to get really stretchy during the winters, you can use honey butter. Not only is it going to moisturize and hydrate your skin but it is also going to prevent dull and dark looking skin. You can use this butter directly on the dry patches are use it as a night cream. If you have dry hands and dry skin anywhere on the body, feel free to use it whenever you like.

Skin Glow

If your skin is looking dull and lifeless and lacks a natural glow, a combination of shea butter and honey is excellent to use! Not only does it hydrate and moisturize but it also rejuvenate your skin and adds a beautiful natural glow. All you can do is use a very small quantity as a face cream or feel free to whip this butter with some almond oil so that it isn’t too heavy to be used as a moisturizer.

Acne

Honey has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that makes it a great anti-acne ingredient. Shea butter too has anti-inflammatory properties and because it is non-comedogenic, it is great for acne prone skin. You can use this honey butter as a spot treatment before sleeping or feel free to use it as a night cream if you have dry skin. For additional benefits, you can also add in few drops of tea tree essential oil.

Damaged Hair Mask

If you have dry and damaged hair, you can totally use honey butter as a hair mask.It helps moisturize and hydrate your hair and repair the damage. You can directly apply this on your hair or if you have a hard time washing it out, feel free to dilute it with some oil base that works best for your hair type.

Split Ends

Split ends are caused mostly due to extra dry hair and also when you use a lot of heating tools. Split ends are a product of damaged and dry hair and honey butter is great to moisturize and add some life to your hair. After a hair wash, you can apply a very small quantity of honey butter on your hair ends. Do not go overboard with this or it can make your hair look greasy.

Dry cuticles

Honey butter is really hydrating and moisturizing for your cuticles and it is also great as a hand butter or cuticle butter. You can also use this when you do a manicure at home to moisturize your cuticles and also to push them back. Directly apply it on your cuticles and massage.

Cracked Heels

If you have dry and cracked heels, you can directly use honey butter as an overnight treatment. Simply slap a good amount on your feet and massage it in. Wear socks and sleep with it. Wash it off the next morning. Honey butter has great moisturizing and skin healing properties and it helps heal cracked heels sooner.
