Turmeric is one of my favorite beauty ingredients and I frequently use it in my skincare routine. I love using turmeric in the form of face masks but did you know that you can also make turmeric serum at home? Serums are nothing but solutions that are a little thicker than emulsion and lighter than a moisturizer. Using turmeric in the form of a facial serum is a brilliant way to add this wonderful ingredient in your skincare routine for natural glowing skin! Below is a recipe for DIY turmeric serum that you might want to try –

BENEFITS:

Aloe Gel

Aloe vera gel makes a great gel base in the recipe and because it is commercial aloe vera gel, it also emulsifies well with other ingredients. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and skin softening properties. Keeps your skin clean and clear and also keeps it very soft and smooth. Skin feels hydrated and well moisturized. Great for soft and glowing skin.

Rose Water

Rosewater makes a great diluting ingredient in the recipe and it also has great skincare benefits. It has anti-inflammatory properties that reduces any skin inflammation and it also helps clear acne and adds a beautiful rosy glow. Skin looks more radiant and glowing!

Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel has sanitizing effect that helps purify and detox skin. It has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and it helps fight breakouts and acne. Unclog pores and prevent whiteheads and blackheads. This ingredient is great for skin that is problematic and prone to acne and breakouts.

Turmeric Powder

Turmeric powder has healing, anti-inflammatory, brightening, anti-pigmentation and antimicrobial properties. It is an all rounder skincare ingredient and suits all skin types. Turmeric contains a potent component called as ‘curcumin’ that is responsible for all the positive skincare benefits. It keeps your skin clean, clear and glowing.

Turmeric Essential Oil

Turmeric essential oil has all the benefits or turmeric powder has to offer. The only difference is that turmeric essential oil is more potent than the powder and it also has moisturizing effects. Keeps your skin clear, hydrated, glowing and well moisturized.

METHOD:

Things you need-

  • 2 tablespoons aloe gel
  • 1 tablespoon witch hazel
  • 1 tablespoon rose water
  • 1/3 teaspoon wild turmeric
  • 5-6 drops turmeric essential oil

Directions-

To make this turmeric serum, take a bowl and add in aloe vera gel, witch hazel and rose water. Mix it well until it is well emulsified and then add in turmeric powder and turmeric essential oil. Keep mixing until it is homogeneous and turbid. Transfer this prepared serum into an easy to use pump bottle or a dropper bottle and use it during your AM and PM skincare routine. To use, take a few drops on your fingertips and massage it onto your facial skin and neck.

NOTE-

  • Always patch test beforehand to make sure you aren’t allergic to any ingredient.
  • Use organic ingredients only.
  • Stick to a routine for a longer period for it to work and show effects.
